An electrician for repair and maintenance of electrical equipment of the 4th category should know: - basics of electronics; - design of various types of DC and AC electric motors, protective and measuring devices, switching equipment; - the most rational ways to check, repair, assemble, install and maintain electric motors and electrical equipment, ways to protect them from overvoltage; - assignment of relay protection; - operating principle and maximum current protection schemes; - selection of wire cross-sections, fusible inserts and protection devices depending on current load; - design and principle of operation of semiconductor and other rectifiers; - technical requirements for the execution of electrical wires of all types; - nomenclature, properties and interchangeability of electrical insulation and conductor materials used in the repair; - methods of carrying out adjustment and adjustment works and delivery of electrical equipment with start-up and control equipment after repair; - basic electrical standards for setting up the serviced equipment, methods for checking and measuring them; - principle of operation of power supply equipment; - design, purpose and conditions of use of a complex control and measuring instrument; - construction of universal and special devices; - safety regulations for the operation of electrical installations of consumers in the scope of the IV group of electrical safety tolerance. 2. An electrician for repair and maintenance of electrical equipment of the 5th category should know in addition: - fundamentals of telemechanics; - design and electrical diagrams of various electrical machines, electrical devices, electrical measuring and automatic control devices; - general information about the purpose and basic requirements for maximum current protection; - methods of testing electrical equipment and cable networks; - diagrams of electric motors and other serviced electrical equipment; - design of relay of various systems and ways of its check and adjustment; - methods of work and the sequence of operations for disassembly, assembly, repair and adjustment of electrical machines, complex electrical equipment; - rules for testing protective equipment used in electrical installations; - procedure for organizing safe conduct of work in electrical installations, supervision and maintenance of working electrical equipment; - calculation of the need for static capacitors to increase the cosine phi; - methods of alignment and balancing of electric motors; - safety rules for the operation of electrical installations of consumers in the scope of the IV group of electrical safety tolerance.

An electrician for repair and maintenance of electrical equipment of the 4th category should be able to: - perform disassembly, major repairs of electrical equipment for any purpose, all types and dimensions under supervision of an electrician of higher qualification; - perform adjustment and check of the equipment and devices of electric drives after repair; - perform repairs of amplifiers, light and sound alarm devices, controllers, control posts; - perform maintenance of power and lighting electrical installations with complex switching schemes; - perform work at departmental power plants, transformer substations with their complete disconnection from the voltage; - performing operational switching in power grid with revision of transformers, switches, disconnectors and drives to them with disassembly of structural elements; - perform inspection, installation and repair of fluorescent lighting schemes; - perform unwinding, cutting, dosing, cable laying, installation of input devices and connecting couplings, end fittings in cable lines with voltage up to 1,000 V and higher; - determine location of cable damage, measure ground resistance, potentials on cable shell; - identify and eliminate failures and malfunctions of electrical equipment in switching circuits of medium complexity; - perform soldering with hard and soft solders; - perform work on drawings and diagrams; - perform selection of starting resistances for electric motors. 2. An electrician for repair and maintenance of electrical equipment of the 5th category should be able to additionally: - perform disassembly, major repairs, assembly, installation and alignment of high-voltage electrical machines and electrical equipment of various types and systems with voltage up to 15 kV. - perform adjustment of circuits and elimination of defects in complex devices of protective equipment and automation and telemechanics devices. - perform maintenance of power and lighting installations with particularly complex circuits for switching on electrical equipment and circuits of machines and aggregates connected to the production line, as well as equipment with automatic process control. - perform installation and repair of cable networks with voltage more than 35 kV, with installation of input devices and connecting couplings. - perform repair, installation, installation and adjustment of mercury rectifiers and high-frequency installations with capacity more than 1,000 kW. - perform installation, repair, adjustment and maintenance of devices for automatic regulation of operating modes of blast furnaces, steelmaking furnaces, rolling mills, blocking, signaling, control devices of tunnel furnaces, dispatching automated control systems, flow-transport technological lines, welding equipment with electronic control circuits, electrical equipment units and machine tools with electric machine control systems, with current and voltage feedbacks. - perform repairs of complex electrical equipment of drying and vacuum furnaces, unique maximum current automatic machines and automatic belts - perform balancing of rotors of electric machines, detection and elimination of vibration
